Blue and white tureen with flowers

JVV 0179

Delft, 1761-1777

The Three Porcelain Bottles pottery

Mark: HB for Hugo Brouwer (1761-1777)

The oval tureen stands on a straight, high foot, has a straight wall, two shell-shaped hanging handles and a domed cover. A profiled band is modelled just above the foot. An alternating decor of shells, spirals and pointed shapes has been applied between the band and the foot. The tureen is painted in blue with plants and flowers. The lid knob is polychrome in the shape of a naturalistically modelled leaf branch with pear.

Dimensions: length 34 cm / 13.38 in., width 25,5 cm / 10.03 in., height 25,5 cm / 10.03 in.
