The Porcelain Axe pottery 

Mark: an axe 

The woman is leaning back in a relaxed pose and rests her right elbow on a kind of tree trunk. In her right hand, she holds an eel or a snake. She is dressed in a two-piece gown and has a high hairdo. The figurine is painted in many colours: purple, green, yellow, brown and red. 

Dimensions: height 14,5 cm, width 11 cm, depth 7,3 cm 

Similar examples
Kunstmuseum Den Haag (Art Museum of The Hague) has two very similar figurines with a bird and a fish in its collection (inv. nos. 1059364 and 1059366). A third one in this museum has no attribute whatsoever (inv. no. 1059365). All three come from the Lavino collection. 

Explanatory note
This figurine and the one in the Kunstmuseum Den Haag may have an allegorical meaning.
