The lobed dish is composed of eight wide lobes around an octagonal centre and is painted in polychrome with a chinoiserie decor. Three sitting and resting Chinese figures in an oriental landscape are depicted in the centre, framed within lines and a white band. The border is decorated with a continuous landscape with four additional Chinese figures, of which two carry a standard.
