Octagonal blue and white chinoiserie vase

The Greek A pottery 

Mark: SVE, period of Samuel van Eenhoorn (1678-1686) 

The slightly tapered octagonal vase has a narrow neck with a flaring rim. The vase is painted in blue with a continuous floral chinoiserie decor, outlined in blue. It is made up of plants and flowers issuing from rocks, and a hanging bunch of branches and flowers. Birds of various sizes are depicted in between. A peacock and a heron stand together on a rock, other birds sit on branches or fly in the sky.

Sold to a Dutch private collector.
