The dish has a wide-spreading flange and is painted in blue with a church interior within a panelled border. A service is taking place. Standing in the pulpit the preacher delivers his sermon to the congregation. The pastor and the believers are depicted as Chinamen, recognisable by their hairstyle and garments. The eight-panelled border is alternately decorated with floral motifs and chinoiserie landscapes.
