The octagonal tea canister and cover has a sloping shoulder, a circular neck and is painted in polychrome. A landscape with a gallant couple is painted along each side, reserved on a decorated iron-red ground. On one side a young couple sits in a formal garden at the back of a stately mansion. The young lady is dressed in a titian gown, the lord of the manor wears a red coat. On the other side the same - or a different – couple is depicted with some sheep in front of a barn in a landscape. The lady is also dressed in a titian gown and has a small sheep in her lap. Her spouse is dressed in a blue coat. A farmer and his wife are harvesting in the fields and some church towers can be seen in the background. The iron-red ground is framed within a gilded line and decorated with flowers, foliage, scrolls, cartouches and small golden circles on a red-dotted white ground. The large quatrefoil cartouches on both small sides are filled with a woman’s portrait. A golden line is painted on the tea canister’s neck. The cover is also painted with flowers on an iron-red ground. Dimensions: height 16,5 cm / 6.49 in., length 9,5 cm / 3.74 in., width 6,5 cm / 2.55 in.
