Blue and white chinoiserie dish

JVV 0613

Delft, 1660-1680

The blue and white dish has a wide, spreading flange and is painted in the centre with a Chinese-style rocky landscape with plants, flowers and two deer. The depiction is framed within a double circle. The well and flange are divided into eight wide and eight narrow panels. The wide panels are alternately painted with a flower and a leaf-shaped fan on a ground of scrolls. The narrow panels are filled with a knot.

Dimensions: diameter 31,3 cm / 12.32 in.

Explanatory note
The decoration is inspired by Chinese kraakporcelain from the first half of the seventeenth century.
