Blue and white dish with floral still life

JVV 0588

Delft, circa 1650-1670

The deep dish has a narrow, flat flange and is painted in blue with a floral still life. A bottle vase stands on a low table, filled with two tulips, a peony and a daffodil, among others. The bottle vase is painted with a whimsical floral decoration. Behind it are two pots with a scaled decor, filled with plants and flowers. The pot on the right also stands on a low table. In the foreground is a sprig of flowers and two sprigs of leaves. Five insects are flying around the still life. The scene is framed in a double circle on the narrow, flat flange.

Dimensions: diameter 33,5 cm / 13.18 in.

Provenance: private collection, Hessen, Germany
