Blue and white chinoiserie dish

JVV 0465

Delft, 1691-1724

The Metal Pot pottery

Mark: LVE, period of Lambertus van Eenhoorn (1691-1724)

The dish has a narrow, flat flange and is painted in blue with a floral chinoiserie decor of plants and flowers issuing from rocks. A butterfly flies in the air. The central representation is framed by a border composed of ten trapezoidal panels filled with three types of floral decors.

Dimensions: diameter 34,5 cm / 13.58 in.

Explanatory note
The decor is an almost exact imitation of Chinese porcelain from the Kangxi period (1662-1722).
