Explanatory note
Plates and dishes in which landscapes are painted in blue over the entire surface are mostly from the period around 1700. Characteristic of this type of decor are the painted or sponged trees at the edge. The landscapes usually depict figures relaxing or walking, often with a town or village in the background. A landscape with only animals is rare.
