Blue and white lobed dish with flowers

JVV 0458

Delft, 1670-1690

The blue and white painted lobed dish is composed of twenty, small lobes and is painted with flowers and leafy branches. The centre features two flowers and a low table within a double circle and a white band. The lobed border is decorated with a continuous decor of flowers and leafy branches. The rim is blue.

Dimensions: diameter 21,4 cm / 9.6 in.

Explanatory note
Flowers and floral decorations are frequently depicted in all kinds of variants on Dutch faience in the seventeenth century. The decor of two single flowers also appears in blue on larger lobed dishes.
