Explanatory note
The colour scheme of blue, yellow and green is frequently found on lobed dishes from the sixteen-nineties, especially with images of King William III and his wife Queen Mary Stuart. After the Glorious Revolution in 1688, they ascended the English throne in 1689. Most of the lobed dishes with this decoration must have been made around 1690. In addition, peacocks and other birds, flowers, flower vases, heraldic arms, landscapes and the human figure were also painted on lobed dishes with this colour scheme.
