Delft, 1680-1690
The octagonal bottle vases have a pear-shaped body on a waisted foot and transitions into a trumpet-shaped neck. The vases are painted in blue on a light blue-coloured tin glaze. The neck is decorated alternately with short and long pointed leaves. The shoulder features a band of block-shaped motifs, while the body is decorated with a chinoiserie garden landscape depicting two reclining Chinese figures. Semi-circular ornaments are painted around the foot.
Dimensions: height 16,8 cm / 6.61 in., diameter 7 cm / 2.75 in.
Explanatory note
The light blue colouring of the white tin glaze was often used in the last decades of the seventeenth century, usually combined with chinoiserie decorations.
